Make nice with one of the sales associates and ask him or her if the items you’re interested in are from the current season or last season. (You can usually gauge when a store is anxious to get rid of its current season’s items when the “sale” signs go up.) When you get to the cash register, politely ask the sales associate to reduce the price of a garment. If he or she refuses to offer a discount, you can either pay full price or walk away.
