Maybe it was the approving smile your teenage daughter gave you this morning on your way out the door or the pride in your husband's eyes the day you walked down the aisle. Maybe a friend or a coworker made a point of reminding you just how great you really are. We put the question to iVillagers: What's the most meaningful compliment you've ever gotten?

As crazy as this sounds, some random guy wrote this in my yearbook, and it has always stuck with me: "You are not fat. You are not ugly. And any guy would be lucky to score a date with you. I will always remember what a beautiful person you are, inside and out."

I grew up in a rural area in the South. So, imagine a Southern drawl here: "I've seen many a spilt drop of gasoline over watching you walk by." Small town life seems to center around the gas station, I guess. I was very flattered by that compliment, funny as it is!

My son and I have had nothing but problems with breastfeeding, but finally we are exclusively pumping. My mom said to me recently, "I am so proud of your determination. You are already an amazing mother for going through all of this for him." I cry every time I think about it!

My husband and I have a friend who had lots of issues with his parents while growing up. Our greatest compliment came from him one evening when he told us, "If I could have picked any people to be my parents, I would have chosen you." Whenever I doubt myself as a parent, I think back to that comment and realize that I must be doing a pretty good job.

From my five-year-old son, Sean: "When I grow up, I'm gonna live in the house next to your house, so I can see you every day, because you are my best friend."

Just recently my 21-year-old brother was visiting me, and my two kids were not treating each other nicely. After I handled it, my brother said, "I hope whoever I marry will be as good a mom as you are." I swear I almost cried!

The other day, my three-year-old took my face in her hands, looked me in the eyes and said, "Mommy, we are really, really sisters. We are beautiful princesses!"

After I helped the management of a store stop someone who was trying to shoplift, my little girl threw her hands up in the air as if she was at a football game and shouted, "Mommy! You're my hero!"

My nephew (who was 10 at the time) once said to me, "Aunt Stephanie, I know that Aunt Kristen and Mom and Grandma had to have been kids at one time, but I just can't picture it. But I can totally see you as a kid."

One of the best compliments a woman can get, in my opinion: A pair of gay men came up to me in a club recently when I was dressed up, and told me I was extremely hot!
