Hair horror: We've all experienced it. Did you have a Farrah Fawcett fluff in fourth grade? A Dorothy Hamill bob that you hated in junior high? Are you, even now, a proud defender of the mullet? We asked iVillagers to spill the goods on their biggest hair missteps.
When I was in fifth grade, my elementary school experienced a lice epidemic, and Mama gave me a boy's cut — with a Flowbee. When the yearbook came out, the boy I had a crush on had his picture directly above mine, and he had the same haircut I did!
Ah, '80s hair… I went through a stage where I used a hair dryer and loads of aerosol hair spray to make my bangs stand straight up. Also, the sides were firmly sprayed into place, standing straight out from my ears. What were we thinking?
I had my hair highlighted in stages (because my hair is very dark brown), and the strands all broke!
This summer, I tried to add highlights at home using those little brushes from the hair-color box, and the shade I picked turned a coppery color instead of auburn. Plus, now the frizz I get is unbelievable.

I have stick-straight Asian hair. It looks great in a bob, but not when I got the insane urge to perm the bob into a curly wedge during the '80s. Ugh. Never again will a perm rod come into contact with my hair.
My story is from the '60s, when women would roll their hair with rags. I was bound and determined to have curly hair for my fourth-grade class picture, so Mom set my hair with rags. I had Bozo the Clown hair for the picture, and of course, by the end of the day it was back to being straight as a string!
