STEP 1 Begin by washing hair with a volumizing shampoo and a conditioner for color-treated hair. If your hair is extraordinarily dry, apply a deep conditioning treatment before you shampoo.

STEP 2 Apply a dime-size amount of texturizing cream to your palms, and rub them together to warm and liquefy it. Transfer the cream to damp hair, working from the roots to the end.

STEP 3 Don't use a brush to dry your hair. Blow-dry the hair using only your fingers to separate tangles and add lift. Start drying underneath. Bend your head forward and flip your hair over to dry the underlying layers. Once the back section is dry, straighten your head, and while running your fingers through your hair, dry the rest of the head.
