At the age of 16, Katie Holmes landed the role of a Park Avenue princess in Ang Lee's brilliant The Ice Storm. After an acclaimed performance she moved on to star in the hugely successful WB teen drama Dawson's Creek. We also loved her in Pieces of April. At present, her blossoming career is slightly overshadowed by the fact that she's the paramour of Tom Cruise. He has proclaimed his love for her with such gusto it's downright contagious. How can anyone resist her? Captured here looking every bit the fair young star, we asked makeup artist Deborah Grayson how to replicate this modern Snow White look.
Step 1 Begin by gently exfoliating and moisturizing the entire face.
Step 2 Tidy up the eyebrows by brushing with a hard-bristled brow brush; then pluck any errant hairs. Blend a medium-brown brow pencil in to fill in any sparse areas.
Step 3 Apply a beigey-nude powder eye shadow to the lids and a creamy ecru tone just under the arch of the brows.
Step 4 For Katie's alluring eyes, apply a strip of false lashes to the upper eyelash line. The trick to applying false lashes is to make sure the eye area is dry first. Apply the special glue in teeny pinpoint-size drops to the false lash, allow it to become tacky for about 30 seconds and then place against the curve of your natural lashes. You can use mascara after about five minutes, when the glue is completely dry.
