2005 Emmys Fashion Trend Recap

Strapless gowns, beading, gold and black were just a few of the top fashion trends on the red carpet at the 2005 Emmy Awards. While overt sexiness took a back seat to understated glamour, there were plenty of curve-hugging gowns accented by beading and sparkle. And in many cases it was the jewelry that took center stage to provide the bling that we all look forward to seeing at these events. Thanks to the desperate housewives, there was a rainbow of colors represented, from rich jewel tones to pretty pastels. Was it mere coincidence that none of the "wives" remotely resembled each other? We think not. Here's a look at the most popular trends of the evening:

The Black Pack

Being that black is back in a huge way for fall, it was no great surprise that many of the stars stepped out in style this year in black gowns. Jennifer Garner displayed her bump with beauty in a striking black strapless gown, while Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kristen Bell, Sela Ward and Patricia Heaton (in Monique Lhuillier) were also in the black. When in doubt, it's a safe and sexy color to wear, and as odd as it sounds, it was refreshing to see some black after a riot of bright colors flooded the streets this past summer.
